Meet the Committee

President
Vanessa Follett
Vanessa has been part of the Spiritualist community for 25 years, and in that time she’s gained a wealth of experience – along with some well-earned qualifications! She holds CSNU awards from the Spiritualists’ National Union in Speaking, Demonstrating, Teaching and Assessing.
Her knowledge and friendly nature help make the church a welcoming place for everyone.
A note from Vanessa:
“It’s so important to keep our church doors open and the message of Spiritualism alive. Our friendly committee are here to help and answer any questions you may have. We are always adding updates on events on our Facebook page, so keep a look out.”

Treasurer
Bev John
Bev is a calm and steady presence on the committee, quietly ensuring that everything adds up behind the scenes. Her commitment, kindness and good humour make her a much-valued part of our church family.
A note from Bev:
“Spiritualism has taught me to be grateful for this life and all the lessons it has taught along the way, however difficult they may seem at the time, there is always hope. It had opened up my mind to the realities of life and the continuous existence of the human soul. Life is a learning experience, live it to the fullest! With thanks to all previous and present members of Bridgend Church for their warmth, caring and commitment.”

Secretary
Trudy Harris
Trudy brings warmth, dedication, and a deeply thoughtful approach to her role on the committee. Her journey with the church is a powerful reminder of the importance of feeling safe, supported and spiritually nourished.
A note from Trudy:
“I had almost given up hope until I decided to give Bridgend a try. Finally, I'd found a church I felt safe enough to relax in and to fully explore my connection with the spirit world. Bridgend Church has given me the guidance, support, and encouragement I needed. As well as helping me to challenge myself.
After a short period of time, I experienced that 'belonging' I had been long searching for and joined the committee. I had unfailing support with achieving the PAS (Platform Accreditation Scheme) and look forward to exploring the next stage of my spiritual journey knowing I have the full support of, not just my fellow committee members, but a whole church full of like-minded, supportive people who genuinely want to help, and to bring out the best in each other.”

Vice President and Booking Secretary
Kirsten Barrett
Kirsten plays a key role in helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, and her warmth and dedication are appreciated by everyone who visits. She’s a thoughtful and supportive presence, always happy to help newcomers feel at ease.
Kirsten is accompanied by her lovely guide dog, Oakey, who’s become a familiar and much-loved presence at the church.
A note from Kirsten:
“I wish I had discovered the church earlier in my life. To me it represents a safe and open-minded place where I feel free to explore my connection with the world of spirit; participate in interesting conversations with like-minded people feeling supported and never judged.”

Committee member
Diane Jeal
Diane has been part of the committee for many years and during this time has led numerous circles and classes, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with so many of our members.
Her dedication and kindness have made a real difference, and we are truly grateful for all the support she has given over the years.

Committee member
Alison Dickinson
Alison is always willing to help in any way she can, and we are truly grateful for her continued dedication and support.
Alison says:
I have to say how wonderful Bridgend Spiritualist Church is. I’ve been coming for quite some time now, and I still find Sunday evenings absolutely beautiful. Thursday evenings are another special time, with a peaceful atmosphere and meaningful messages. It’s such a friendly place, and I really think you should come along and see what you think. I look forward to meeting you!
